Pastor Guy Campbell, Jr.


Biographical Sketch

The Reverend Dr. Guy Campbell, Jr. is a native of Hartsville, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Hartsville and graduated from Butler High School.

He received the BA Degree from The College of New Jersey, Ewing, New Jersey (formerly, Trenton State College), and the Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, PA. (formerly, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary) He has pursued additional studies at Princeton Theological Seminary of Princeton, New Jersey. The Virginia Seminary and College of Lynchburg, Virginia, conferred upon him the Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Morris College of South Carolina also conferred upon him the Doctor of Divinity Degree.

Dr. Campbell accepted Christ at an early age and was divinely called into the gospel ministry. He became pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in 1969. The membership of the Evergreen Church has grown from approximately 60 people to more than 400 families. Since his pastorate of the Evergreen Baptist Church they built two new edifices. One was built in 1979. Pastor Campbell and the Evergreen Baptist Church marched into their present edifice on December 24, 1995, which accommodates approximately 1,000 people.

Dr. Campbell is a Past President of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Philadelphia and Vicinity and Past Moderator of the Bethany Baptist Association of South Jersey. He served as Fourth Vice President of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. for ten years and Director of the Ministers Division of the Congress of Christian Education of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. for five years. He also served as President of the Baptist Pastor’s Conference of Burlington County and Vicinity.

Pastor Campbell is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Morris College and New Jersey Pinelands Commission. He also holds membership in the following organizations:

Dr. Campbell is the immediate past President of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey.
Dr. Campbell is married to Deaconess Dr. Dorothy S. Campbell. They live in Moorestown, New Jersey. He is also a proud father and grandfather.
